Train the Eye and Find the Story

In a world that is constantly moving, what is the one common thread that can keep it all together? On the way to the airport to pick up some students with Shahd, I proceeded to use the time to practice and train my eye towards Portland. Being on the highway for most of the journey, the only things that surrounded us were trees and cars. I took it upon myself to have a look at the trees. Beams of wood and evergreen leaves tower over us as we maneuver our way towards the airport. What am I taking photos of? What is patterns do I see? After multiple attempts to finding the thread, and with no fear to click the shutter when I feel the time is right, I found something. I found lone trees that shone brighter than the others. They had a story. It was their broken branch, the way they stand, or having a different color. What you find in these exercises is that there is a warm up, a zenith, and then a fall. You don’t know when it will come, but when it does, you have to really be in it and continue riding the wave until the inspiration stops. During the process you’re not sure where it will take you and at which stage you are at, but all you have to do is be ready to click that shutter and remain attentive.
